In the quiet community of Awendaw, SC  Windwood farm’s 110 acre campus has been providing help, hope, & healing for at risk youth and their families for 25 years. 
Windwood Farm is licensed by SCDSS to provide high management group home services to boys ages 5 to 16. Children at Windwood Farm have been removed from their homes due to physical, psychological, or sexual abuse; exposure to domestic violence; substance abuse or criminal activity in their family; or other unstable home situations. They provide long- term therapeutic residential treatment; the boys also have the opportunity to attend school on their campus. They operate 365 days a year, and while the boys are in placement, Windwood farm never closes it’s doors.

Many different individuals and either civic or church related organizations volunteer their time and talent to Windwood Farm. The farm has a number of work days scheduled throughout the year where volunteers tackle projects on their campus. They rely on this source of manpower to accomplish much of the property maintenance.  Without volunteers they could not adequately maintain the facilities nor offer as many social opportunities to the boys.  This year alone, volunteers have completed over $25,000 in sweat equity on the campus!There is a full list of volunteer oppurtunities on the Farm’s website .

Recently Windwood Farm has expanded to offer out-patients services in the community. All programs are supervised by Windwood farm’s experienced, qualified staff who receive CPR, First Aid, and non-violent crisis intervention (CPI) training, as well as ongoing training specific to the population, activities, and issues addressed.  Our employees routinely have thorough background checks through SLED, the Central Registry and the Sex Offender Registry.

Windwood has been a safe haven for abused, hurting children without a reason to smile.  There, they gain the confidence to stand tall, break out into joyous laughter, and recapture a glimpse of a childhood denied to them for far too long. Get involved
