The Global Positioning System is the brainchild of the US Department of Defence since 1955. It was originally designed for the operations of the US Military and other related agencies to locate specific coordinates needed. Did you know that obtaining the GPS Tracking of a particular vehicle or person comes from the sky? No, they are not just staring up and allowing the wind to blow its direction but rather, the tracking is supplied as a signal from numerous satellites that are orbiting the planet every twelve hours.
What is great here is that the gps tracking device needed for searching often comes in a small package. It is quite small that it could be hidden in the least visible part of any vehicle but has the capacity to emanate pulse signals to the home base. Such signals are converted into coordinates as to pinpoint the exact location, speed and activity of either a person or a vehicle ? airborne, submerged under the sea or speeding through the highway.
The gps tracking system makes sure that whatever coordinates that are being reported at 100% accurate but sometimes, it becomes difficult to maintain a perfect reading due to natural and man-made interferences that has the ability to reduce the effectiveness of such GPS Tracking. One example is the condition of the weather. There are times when thunderstorms hamper the correct results of the gps tracking device. The reason here is that since the GPS tracking system that is present in the gps tracking device gets jammed by sharing a similar radio frequency. Usually, they are metal in nature.
The most common and widely known use of the GPS Tracking at the current time is manifested by automobiles. More and more car manufacturers are coming up with car designs with a built-in feature. This way, any stolen or stalled vehicle along the freeway could be easily tracked by its gps tracking system. This way, help would be a lot faster to be administered. There are also instances when the gps tracking device gets jammed thus the exact location, distance from the last known point as well as the speed or velocity of the vehicle being chased is compromised.
What acts as a weakness to the gps tracking device is that is can be taken out from the vehicle so without this, it is as good as vanished. That is why car manufacturers are designing units that have hard to find GPS Tracking. This way, if the vehicle gets stolen, if the thief is not wise enough, he would just be surprised to see a flashing blue and red light at his back together with a speeding helicopter above him. With the GPS tracking device that was installed in the vehicles, there is nowhere to hide. Not only vehicles and people can be located using the gps tracking device; all animals too! Ever watched the animated movie about a tap dancing penguin? What is wrapped around its neck is indeed intended for GPS Tracking.
(ARA) - It keeps you in touch with friends, family and business contacts. It's a source of entertainment, whether you play games on it or surf the Web. But did you know your cell phone can help save your life or the lives of others in an emergency situation, even if you're in no condition to use it to call for help?
When a debilitating crisis occurs like an accident or illness, emergency teams that respond to the scene will want to have as much information as possible about your health - including contact information for the person who can make decisions on your behalf.
Your cell phone can often speak on your behalf when you're incapacitated. Emergency personnel are trained to look in your phone for phone numbers designated with the acronym "ICE" - which stands for "In Case of Emergency." They'll use that information to get in touch with someone who can make decisions for you.
Some cell phones already come pre-programmed with the ICE function, so all you have to do is punch in the appropriate numbers. If you're among the 50 million Americans who own an iPhone or iPod Touch, you can place all your critical medical information in the hands of emergency personnel by using the free ICE App. To download ICE App for free, log on to the iPhone Apps Store and search "ICE-app" or visit www.ice-app.net.
Created by online legal service LegalZoom.com and Donate Life America, ICE App allows emergency responders to access information about you, including your name, a photograph (to match the phone to you), birth date, height and weight, medical conditions, blood type, allergies, medications, emergency contacts and your organ donation wishes - a feature that could help save the lives of people waiting for organ donations.
Ninety percent of Americans think organ donation is the right thing to do, yet only 28 percent have taken the appropriate steps to register as an organ donor. If you don't have an iPhone, you can register as a donor at donatelife.net.
"Having emergency contact and medical history information immediately available in your cell or smart phone can help emergency responders make quicker decisions during those precious first minutes, a time that could mean the difference between life and death," says Brian Liu, cofounder and chairman of LegalZoom.
Once you've downloaded the app to your iPhone, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the contact and medical information. Once you're done, place the ICE App icon in the top right corner of your touch screen, where first responders will see it right away when they check your phone. All information is stored on your phone, and not on the Web, ensuring your private information stays in your possession and that first responders can access it, even when the phone has a weak or no cellular signal.

1989, I was given my first film camera, a Minolta 370. I didn't use it much that first year. Partly because I was still in graduate school and it took a great deal of my time, but also because the friend who had given me the camera kept saying something to me that I did not understand, "FILL THE FRAME." No matter what photos I took, really snap shots back then, he would always say, "You didn't fill the frame." I would think to myself, "Well, no-one's head is cut off...I can see the whole scene..."
Finally, I was photographing a young woman just for the practice. I was using slide film because it is unforgiving. (If you make a mistake on your exposure it shows! It also helps you develop a keen sense of light and an understanding for the principles of light).
Anyway, we were talking and laughing while shooting and she turned her head to compose herself and I took the photograph. It was in that moment that "FILL THE FRAME" became real for me. I realized that for the first time the image I had taken was a photograph that filled the frame entirely. I was on my way! Those early images lacked focus. They made the eyes wander because there was no clear subject matter. I wasn't paying attention to what was in my view finder.
3 Tips to finding what is in your view finder:
1. First, you need to decide why you are taking the photograph. Set the photograph up—remember your perspective.
2. Next, look through the view finder to see what is going to end up in your photograph! So many times I hear people say "I didn't see that car" or "I didn't see that person walk into the picture." You can really learn to set your photos apart by focusing on what your intention for the photograph is and by making sure that your view finder is clear of anything that will be distracting.
3. Finally, get right in on your subject—FILL THE FRAME! Your subject should take up the whole of your photographic space. Unless you are trying to intentionally make your subject look small, your image should fill the view finder. Don't count on cropping after the fact. The best images are those that need the smallest amount of editing. It means that you are photographing with intent!

(ARA) - There are many new and exciting advances in the world of consumer electronics, and when it comes to purchasing your newest gadget, wading through endless options can be daunting. Ask anyone who has gone on vacation with a sub-par camera or sat through a grainy or fuzzy movie or sporting event on their TV - there is nothing more frustrating that dealing with outdated or confusing technology.
With so much confusion around electronics and what to look for when buying, it leaves many people wishing they had a personal shopper to help them determine what's best for them, with a minimum amount of hassle. The best idea is to turn to a trusted source that can help you make a well-informed decision.
The same attention that we pay to making sure our clothes have the right style for us should also be given to making sure electronics are the best fit for our lifestyles. While we don't all have personal shoppers, there are great online resources and tips from electronics experts that can make your search and shopping process easier and more fun.
Know the ABCs of cameras and TVs
The many acronyms that get tacked onto cameras and TVs to describe their characteristics and capabilities can make your head spin. However, it really is important that you understand what you are buying, so you can make sure to get exactly what you need. When it comes to TVs, simply finding out what kind of screen you need is confusing. Do you opt for an LCD (liquid crystal display), plasma or LED (light-emitting diode)? Is one better than the other for video games or watching Blu-ray discs?
Searching for a new camera can be just as confusing. There are so many camera terms to understand, megapixels, RAW, SD cards . . . you'd need to be a pro to explain the laundry list of functions and settings on some of the more advanced models. Before making a final purchase, you should definitely conduct some research and create a list of questions you need answered. Find a few models that are of interest to you and do some comparison shopping.
Harness the power of the Web
One of the best resources for consumer electronics information is the Internet. It's most people's go-to research tool these days, and there are some great sites devoted to specific brands and models of TVs and cameras, along with consumer reviews to give you more piece-of-mind.
However if you really don't have time to do research about every last detail, new tools like TVMatchMaker.com and CameraMatchmaker.com from Sears are ideal resources. You simply answer a few quick questions about where and how you'll use a new camera or TV and it does the matchmaking for you, providing the three top choices for your exact needs.
If you're looking for a new television, the TV MatchMaker suggests the best television options for you based on your criteria including:
* the brightness of the room
* where you'll put the TV and
* the other kinds of equipment you'll be connecting to the TV
The Camera MatchMaker takes into account information like:
* the kind of pictures you most often take
* how much control you want to have over the settings
* what type of camera design you prefer
* your brand preference
The only thing better than getting the right product for your needs is getting it for a great price. If you go to the TV and Camera MatchMaker sites and answer the questions to find your best match, you can also enter the MatchMaker Sweepstakes for a chance to win a gift card that may be used toward your home electronics purchase with one quick click. For complete official rules, go to: www.sears.com/tvmatchmakersweeps.
Just as you wouldn't wear a sweater or shoes that don't fit, you shouldn't have electronics that don't meet your needs. For more information about finding the right TV and camera for you, visit TVMatchMaker.com and CameraMatchmaker.com.

(ARA) - Function alone isn't enough to sell us on a new piece of technology anymore. Americans increasingly want their technology to look good - stylish, even - in addition to working well.
"If you're old enough to remember the huge, clunky-looking 'car phones' of the late '80s and early '90s, or if you've seen them in the movies or on old TV shows, you'll have some perspective on how technology has evolved toward being beautiful as well as functional," says Jeanne Benedict, host of DIY Network's "Weekend Entertaining" and regular contributor to Celebrations.com.
Designers agree that a balance of form and function is essential to appealing and useful home decor. With new wafer-thin, high-definition flat-screen TVs, surround-sound systems with wireless speakers and sleek home telephones that allow you to receive cell phone calls on your landline, modern home technology is trending toward beauty and usefulness.
If you're in the market to upgrade your home technology this holiday season, be sure to look for gadgets that blend style and practicality, including:
* LED high-definition, flat-screen TVs that are almost as thin as a sheet of glass. These TVs are ideal for mounting on the wall as a focal point of virtually any room. The flatter the better, and the new generation of TVs are so thin and light, they make their predecessors look like those '90s chunky car phones. Some manufacturers also offer flat screens in colors to match virtually any home decor - no more settling for just silver or black.
* Sleek new home phones like VTech's LS6245 combine advanced technology that lets you receive both landline and cellular calls on the cordless handset. Its fashionable profile fits into virtually any home decor. The phone offers touch-sensitive buttons on the handset and base as well as capabilities that allow you to connect up to four wireless devices such as cellular phones or wireless headsets.
With the ability to make and receive cellular calls on the LS6245 handset or take landline calls with a wireless headset, this phone system helps eliminate problems typically associated with using a cell at home - dropped calls, poor call quality and limited range. The practical VTech LS6245 is available at www.vtechphones.com.
* Wireless technology has made it possible to enjoy surround sound and your favorite DVD without the visual distraction of wires running between the components. From wireless speakers that work with your surround sound system and stereo to flat screens and DVD players that can communicate with each other, technology has eliminated the old problem of ugly - and potentially hazardous - wires throughout your home.
"It's no longer necessary to sacrifice stylish design and decor-enhancing beauty to get the latest technology for your home," Benedict says. "Modern product makers are manufacturing better-looking technology that fits with our lifestyles and home decor."

(ARA) - This holiday season, don't just "decorate" with some evergreen and mistletoe - "techorate" using today's hottest home technology, including your flat-screen TV.
Although the kitchen is the traditional setting for a holiday get-together, this year the party is moving to the family room. Whether it's enjoying a bowl game, holiday parade or a classic holiday movie, many family gatherings will take place around the flat-screen - the hearth of the 21st century home. "Technology is now playing an integral role in holiday entertaining, just as it is in all other aspects of our lives," says Doug Wilson, noted interior designer from TLC's "Trading Spaces" and "Moving Up."
"The concept of 'techorating' merges technology and interior design so that a techorated room works together as one, unified space," says Wilson, who is also the resident Techorator for LG Electronics. "The TV has really become the new hearth of the home, and having a harmonious hearth and home is never more important than during the holidays."
Wilson offers a few tips for techorating your home this holiday season:
Tip One: Less is more - a lot more
"Technology doesn't have to stick out in an unattractive way," Wilson says. Streamline your technology and declutter to make it blend more easily with your overall holiday decor. For example, use covers painted to match the wall color to hide wires and connections between your flat screen and audio-visual components. Or use wireless technology to eliminate wire clutter altogether.
For another way to create a really sleek look, upgrade your flat screen to a new ultra-thin model like LG's SL90 series. These high-definition TVs are available in 42- and 47-inch sizes and look nearly as thin as the sheet of glass in their single-layer design for stunning sets that blend beautifully into any decor.
Tip Two: Create a focal point
"Nothing brings the family together better than a good holiday movie so it makes sense to use the television as the focal point for your living room decor," Wilson says. "Wall-mounting your flat screen will improve its visibility from all angles, making it easier to enjoy watching holiday classics with your family."
Flat screens afford you more design flexibility than older TVs, and companies like LG offer a variety of options that combine simple, sleek designs with the latest in high-definition technology to meet your entertainment and decorating needs, Wilson explains.
"Don't be afraid to put the TV above the mantle," he adds. "But do keep in mind that competing design elements like fireplaces, large mirrors and picture windows can make the space look too cluttered."
Tip Three: It's OK to rearrange.
Plenty of people rearrange furniture before the holidays to accommodate the Christmas tree or the gathering of family and friends. If you're planning a holiday gathering based around your favorite bowl game think about rearranging furniture to provide maximum seating and the best possible view of the TV.
The size of your TV screen will help determine where you place your furniture. To locate the perfect spot for your sofa or seating, multiply the size of your screen in inches by 1.5. The result should be the optimal distance (in inches) that you allow for between the TV and sofa.
"These tips will help you 'tech the halls' this holiday season and ensure your technology enhances the holidays for everyone who visits your home," Wilson says. For more techorating tips, visit www.lgusa.com/techorate. of ARAcontent

(ARA) - While Americans have been using the Internet for about 20 years, it can still feel like the wild, wild West. Despite many technological advances that reduce the risk of your identity being stolen, becoming the victim of an Internet scam or having your privacy invaded by others on the Internet still occurs all too often. And, as a number of recent incidents involving social networking Web sites have shown, it can even be deadly.
Keeping your guard up is essential to avoiding trouble on the Internet. Here are some tips from FindLaw.com, the world's leading online legal resource, on how you can stay safe online:
Don't give out personal information too easily.
Avoid giving out personal information such as your name, address and telephone number on Web sites until you've read and understand their privacy policy. For example, be on guard for any online promotion or contest in which you may be asked to provide details about yourself. This information will likely be used to market to you in the future. Never give out your Social Security number online, unless you are certain the site is secure.
You're being monitored.
Be careful of the e-mails you send and the Web sites you visit while at work. In most U.S. states, employees have little if any privacy protection from employers who may be monitoring their e-mails and Internet usage while on the job.
Don't reply to spam.
Ever get one of those strange, unexpected e-mails for real estate, weight loss, work-at-home or investment opportunities? Your best bet is to delete those e-mails without opening them. Never reply to these e-mails, even to remove your name from their lists. Replying will alert the sender that your e-mail is a "live" e-mail attached to an actual person.
Secured Web sites only.
Before you purchase a product or service online with a credit card, make sure the connection is secure or encrypted. Look for a small lock icon on the Web site, or look at the URL address line; a secure connection will begin with https:// instead of http://. of public wireless sites.
Don't send personal or confidential information when using public wireless connections in coffee shops and other public places. Fellow wireless users could potentially monitor your Internet usage from their laptops, only a few feet away.
Beware
Would your mother blush?
Avoid revealing personal information or photos on Web sites such as Facebook, MySpace or SecondLife. Personal, possibly very embarrassing information or images could haunt you in the years to come, when applying for college or a new job. If it's on the Internet, it's available for a potential employer, your school, a future or current spouse, or heaven forbid, your mother or grandmother to find it.
Don't trust your best friend (even your partner).
As a number of recent incidents involving "sexting" demonstrate, sending photos of yourself in the nude or in compromising positions could not only be extremely embarrassing when a partner or ex-partner starts to share those photos with his or her friends, but it also could be illegal.
Always go with a friend.
When using Web sites such as Craigslist or Freelist to buy or exchange goods locally, always bring a friend, your partner or your spouse with you to meet a seller or buyer. Avoid allowing a potential buyer into your home, as they may be checking it out for potential valuables, and avoid going into the home of a seller.
Watch your cookies.
Cookies are tidbits of information that Web sites store on your computer. Some cookies are useful, such as those that store information about you so you don't have to retype it every time you go to that site. Other cookies, though, can be used to track your motions through a Web site, the pages you visit or the links you click. Some companies keep this data to themselves - however, some companies sell this information to other marketers. You can monitor and edit the cookies on your computer through your browser.
Install anti-spyware.
Spyware is sneaky software that rides its way onto computers during the download of screensavers, games, music and other applications. Spyware sends information about what you're doing on the Internet to a third-party, usually to target you with pop-up ads. Anti-spyware will help block this threat.
Monitor your kids' Internet use.
Move computers out of the bedroom and into family space where parents and others can check on your child's Internet use by simply walking by. Set specific times that your child may surf the Web, and set rules about social media Web sites, such as Facebook, My Space and Twitter.
